About Palliative Care
Palliative care is a specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness. Palliative care focuses on relieving a patient’s pain and suffering and improving the quality of life while individuals fight their serious illness. This specialty care also relieves the stress of the illness for both the patient and the family.
Palliative care is provided by a team of specially-trained doctors, nurses and others working together with a patient’s other doctors to provide a special extra layer of care and support. Palliative care is customized to the specific needs of each patient. It is offered to patients of any age, no matter what stage of the illness. Palliative care is offered along side curative treatments.
